Casual Shelter Counsellor

We are always looking for casual shelter workers to work in the shelter. You must be available to work a minimum of 8 hours a month and shift work including days, nights and weekends are involved.

Women’s Resources is dedicated to the promotion of safety and equality for all women. We provide shelter and counselling to abused women and their children in the City of Kawartha Lakes.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Experience in women’s services, street outreach, mental health/addictions
  • Post-secondary education in human/community/social services
  • Strong knowledge of trauma-informed care practices and human sex trafficking
  • Compassionate, empathetic, and non-judgmental approach
  • Ability to establish trusting relationships with vulnerable populations
  • Strong knowledge of community resources and advocacy skills
  • Demonstrate initiative, critical thinking and a self-directed working style
  • Good written, oral, and computer literacy skills
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle
